26-2 is a jazz composition written by John Coltrane. It was recorded in 1960 and released in 1970 as part of the album "The Coltrane Legacy". The tune is a contrafact of Charlie Parker's "Confirmation", meaning it uses the same chord progression but has a new melody. 26-2 is notable for its use of "Coltrane Changes", a harmonic device involving a cycle of major third related chords, which Coltrane also used in his composition "Giant Steps". On the recording, Coltrane plays the first statement of the melody on tenor saxophone and switches to soprano saxophone for the last statement.
