A Sunday Kind of Love is a 1946 pop and jazz standard written by Barbara Belle, Anita Leonard, Stan Rhodes, and Louis Prima. It was first recorded by Claude Thornhill and His Orchestra with Fran Warren in late 1946 and released as a single in January 1947 on Columbia Records. Louis Prima and his Orchestra released a version in February 1947, helping to establish the song. The tune gained wider popularity with The Del Vikings' 1957 up tempo rendition, even though it never reached the Billboard Top 40. Since then it has been recorded by many artists including Frankie Laine, Jo Stafford, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Etta James, The Marcels, Jan & Dean and Reba McEntire, and has appeared on albums such as Etta James At Last! and Dinah Washington What a Diff'rence a Day Makes!
