Abre Alas is a Brazilian tune by Ivan Lins, released in 1974 on the RCA Victor album Modo Livre. The track sits in the Latin/MPB tradition, reflecting Lins’s Brazilian pop sensibility. It has had a lasting influence, being sampled in later songs by Zendaya Cozz feat. J. Cole (2018), Rio De Janeiro Madlib (2010), and Marcelo D2 (2013) under the title Está Chegando a Hora (Abre Alas). It has also been covered by artists such as Sarah Vaughan in 1980 (The Smiling Hour) and Paulinho Da Costa in 1979 (Carnival of Colors).
