Air Mail Special is a 1941 jazz standard written by Benny Goodman, James Mundy and Charlie Christian. The original recording was by Benny Goodman's Orchestra, and the tune is a swing-era jazz number that showcases improvisation. It is best known as a vehicle for Ella Fitzgerald's virtuosic scat singing, especially her 1957 Newport Jazz Festival performance. A Benny Goodman version has also appeared in popular culture, including being used as the soundtrack for the Woody Woodpecker Nuthouse Coaster queue line at Universal Orlando Resort. The track appears on various Benny Goodman compilation albums.
