All the Way is a 1957 pop song written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn. It was made famous by Frank Sinatra in 1957, released as a Capitol single (recorded August 13, 1957 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood) and introduced in the film The Joker Is Wild, with the B-side Chicago (That Toddlin’ Town). The Nelson Riddle orchestral arrangement helped Sinatra’s version win the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1957. The track runs about 2 minutes 50 seconds and reached No. 15 in US sales and No. 2 in US airplay, with a No. 3 peak on the UK Singles Chart. Sinatra later re-recorded it for the 1963 album Sinatra’s Sinatra. Since then it has become a standard with many covers, including Keely Smith, Etta Jones, Brenda Lee, Sam Cooke, Billie Holiday, Glen Campbell, and a 1999 duet version with Céline Dion on her All the Way… A Decade of Song compilation.
