Almost Like Being in Love is a classic show tune from the 1947 Broadway musical Brigadoon, with music by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. It was first sung on stage by David Brooks and Marion Bell, and later heard in the 1954 film version performed by Gene Kelly. The song has been widely recorded, including a 1978 downbeat ballad by Michael Johnson from The Michael Johnson Album, which reached No 32 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No 4 on the US Adult Contemporary chart, and No 10 in Canada. In 1947 Frank Sinatra, Mildred Bailey and Mary Martin also had charting versions. Nat King Cole recorded several versions, with one used as the closing song in the 1993 film Groundhog Day. The tune remains a staple of Broadway show tunes and pop standards, covered by many artists across jazz and pop genres.
