Alone Together is a 1932 song composed by Arthur Schwartz with lyrics by Howard Dietz. It was introduced in the Broadway musical Flying Colors in 1932 by Jean Sargent and soon became a chart hit with Leo Reisman and His Orchestra featuring Frank Luther on vocals. The tune has since become a jazz standard, with Artie Shaw making the first notable jazz recording in 1939. Musically it is a moody swing ballad in a minor key, originally in D minor, often performed in an AABA form and commonly described as a 44‑measure piece. It has been widely covered by artists such as Chet Baker, Tony Bennett in the album Alone Together (1960), Miles Davis, Pat Boone, Peggy Lee, and Paul Desmond with Jim Hall, among others, and it even appears in the 1967 film Hotel.
