Aren't You Glad You're You? is a 1945 jazz standard composed by Jimmy Van Heusen with lyrics by Johnny Burke. It was written for the film The Bells of St. Mary’s, in which Bing Crosby performs the song, and it appears on the film’s soundtrack. Crosby's Decca recording, made on September 10, 1945, reached No. 8 on the Billboard chart. The tune received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song in 1946 but lost to It Might Be Spring. It was quickly covered by The Pied Pipers, Les Brown with Doris Day, and Tommy Dorsey, all of whom had charting versions. Over the years it has been recorded by Peggy Lee, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker, Rosemary Clooney, and many others, cementing its status as a mid-1940s jazz standard.
