As Rosas Não Falam is a Brazilian samba song written by Cartola. The original recording appeared in 1974 on the album Cartola II, released on 7-inch vinyl by Discos Marcus Pereira and produced by Juarez Barroso. The tune is closely associated with Cartola as its composer and performer, and it was later popularized by Beth Carvalho on her 1976 album Mundo Melhor, which featured the first commercially released recording of the song. In the same year Cartola released a version with voice and guitar on his self titled second album Cartola. The song is noted for its enduring popularity and, as of 2021, is among Brazil’s most re recorded songs according to ECAD. In 2022 it was re interpreted by Sophie Charlotte and Letícia Colin to open the Globoplay telenovela Todas as Flores.
