Belleville Rendez-Vous is a 2003 French jazz chanson from the animated film The Triplets of Belleville. The music is by Benoît Charest with lyrics by Sylvain Chomet, and the song is performed in the movie by Béatrice Bonifassi as part of the Belleville Triplets. On the soundtrack the French and English versions are sung by Matthieu Chedid, known as -M-, and the track appears on the Bande originale Les Triplettes de Belleville. The tune evokes the 1920s Paris zazou jazz scene and serves as the film’s thematic song, blending chanson française with jazz, gypsy jazz, hot jazz and close harmony. It was released in 2003 and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, later covered by The Lost Fingers and Rock Paper Scissors, and performed live at the 2004 Oscars. A music video features -M- visiting a psychiatrist, and the song has remained a notable example of film music from the era.
