Blue Champagne is a 1941 jazz-pop standard written by Grady Watts, Jimmy Eaton and Frank L Ryerson, originally recorded and released by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra with Bob Eberly on vocals. The single was issued in June 1941 on Decca 3775, after being recorded on April 29, 1941 at Decca Studios in New York City, with the B-side All Alone and Lonely. It topped Billboard's National Best Selling Retail Records chart for the week of September 27, 1941, becoming Dorsey's fifth number-one hit of the year. The tune has been recorded by Xavier Cugat, Ray Eberle, Freddy Martin, Anita O'Day and Tex Beneke; Glenn Miller released a V-Disc version with the Army Air Forces Training Command Orchestra. Lyrically it uses blue champagne as a symbol of nostalgia for a lost romance, recalling the plans and songs shared with a former lover. The track appears on the album Too Marvelous For Words by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra.
