Silver's Blue is a hard bop jazz tune and the title track of Horace Silver's 1957 album Silver's Blue. It was written by Horace Silver and showcases a bluesy, groove-based theme driven by Silver's piano with Hank Mobley on tenor sax; the track runs about 7 minutes and 44 seconds. The album Silver's Blue was recorded in New York in 1956 during two sessions and released on Epic in August 1957, produced by Cal Lampley. The sessions feature two trumpet lineups - Joe Gordon on tracks 2, 3 and 5 and Donald Byrd on tracks 1, 4, 6 and 7 - and two drummers - Kenny Clarke and Art Taylor - with Doug Watkins on bass. This project marked Horace Silver's first sessions as a leader after leaving the Jazz Messengers, and it sits firmly in the hard bop tradition.
