Blue Sphere is a jazz tune by Thelonious Monk. It appears on the 1979 Japan promo LP Blue Sphere, released by Black Lion Records (BLP 30202). The recording took place at Chappell Studios in London on 15 November 1971, with Monk on piano. The album blends Monk originals with standards in a bop and post-bop style, and the track Blue Sphere runs 2:22 on side B. Other selections on the LP include Trinkle Tinkle, Crepuscule With Nellie, Darn That Dream, Little Rootie Tootie, Nice Work If You Can Get It, My Melancholy Baby, and Jackieing. The LP was engineered by John Timperly, produced by Alan Bates, with liner notes by Alun Morgan.
