Brazilian Suite is a jazz composition by French pianist Michel Petrucciani. It appears on his 1988 Blue Note album Michel Plays Petrucciani and runs about 6 minutes and 24 seconds. The tune is Petrucciani’s own creation, blending a Brazilian influenced groove with lyrical piano lines. The studio recording was made in two 1987 sessions: tracks 1-5 with Gary Peacock on bass and Roy Haynes on drums, and tracks 6-9 with Eddie Gómez on bass and Al Foster on drums, with John Abercrombie on electric guitar for tracks 2 and 7 and Steve Thornton adding percussion on track 9. A live sextet performance of Brazilian Suite was later captured at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1995. The piece is a notable example of Petrucciani’s Blue Note years, showcasing his melodic inventiveness and rhythmic finesse.
