Bright Size Life is Pat Metheny’s debut studio album, released in March 1976 on ECM and recorded in December 1975 at Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg - the title track Bright Size Life is Metheny’s composition performed by a trio with Jaco Pastorius on bass and Bob Moses on drums - the music blends jazz, jazz fusion and Americana - Metheny wrote the pieces while living in Boston and teaching at Berklee, with mentor Gary Burton helping arrange the songs and attending the session, though Burton did not receive a producer credit - the album’s first track later appeared on Smithsonian and other anthologies and in 2020 the album was added to the National Recording Registry.
