Butch and Butch is a jazz composition by Oliver Nelson that was recorded in February 1961 during the sessions for his album Blues and the Abstract Truth. The album, released in 1961 on Impulse Records and produced by Creed Taylor, features an all-star lineup including Freddie Hubbard, Eric Dolphy, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, and Roy Haynes. The piece was arranged by Nelson and is published by Jazz Lines Publications as a Jazz Small Group Arrangement for four reeds with rhythm section (alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, trumpet, piano, bass, and drums) and described as Swing - Medium. Blues and the Abstract Truth is regarded as a landmark album and produced the jazz standard Stolen Moments; Butch and Butch is one of the six compositions from that project now available in Nelson's original manuscript-based arrangement. Nelson's influence spanned big and small group work, and he remained active in music until his death in 1975 at age 43.
