Bye Bye Blues is an American popular and jazz standard written by Fred Hamm, Dave Bennett, Bert Lown and Chauncey Gray and published in 1925. It was introduced that year by The Vikings on the NBC radio show The Vikings. The best known recording is the 1952 vocal version by Les Paul and Mary Ford, released on the Capitol album Bye Bye Blues (EBF-356) with the B side Mammy's Boogie; the single reached the Billboard Best Seller chart on December 27, 1952, staying for five weeks and peaking at number 5. The album also charted on Billboard's Best Selling Popular Albums chart in December 1952. The tune has appeared in films including the 1989 Bye Bye Blues as its title track, and in The Joker is Wild (1957) and The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio (2005). It has been recorded by many artists over the years, including Cab Calloway, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong on Bing & Satchmo, Dinah Washington, Bert Lown and his orchestra, and others.
