Can't Take My Eyes Off You is a 1967 song written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio and first recorded and released as a single by Frankie Valli of The Four Seasons. It appears on the album Frankie Valli: Solo (1967) and blends soul and pop - often described as pop-soul - in a lush, romantic ballad style. The original recording, produced by Crewe with an arrangement by Artie Schroeck and Gaudio, was cut at A & R Studio 2 in New York City. The single reached No 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, earned a gold record, and became Valli's biggest solo hit until 1975's My Eyes Adored You. A key moment in its rise came when Windsor, Ontario radio station CKLW began rotating it after hearing Valli perform at the Roostertail, helping the song blanket the Great Lakes region. The tune has since spawned many covers across genres, including a 1982 disco version by Boys Town Gang that topped charts in several countries, and a 1998 Lauryn Hill version that appears as a hidden track on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and earned a Grammy nomination.
