Caught Up in the Rapture is a 1986 ballad by American R&B and soul singer Anita Baker. It was issued as the follow up to Sweet Love from the album Rapture, with a B side titled Mystery, and was recorded in 1985 before its October 3, 1986 release. The quiet storm track was written by Garry Glenn and Dianne Quander and produced by Michael J. Powell. The single version runs 4:08 while the album version is 5:17. It became Baker's third top ten R&B hit, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, number 9 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and number 37 on the Hot 100 in February 1987. The song helped establish Baker’s signature sound from the mid 80s. Co writer Dianne Quander is a Washington, D.C. native who has written for Earth, Wind & Fire and other artists.
