Cherish the Day is a song by the English band Sade from their fourth studio album Love Deluxe (1992). It was released as the album’s fourth and final single in the UK on July 19, 1993. The track blends trip hop, funk and ambient soul, and runs five minutes and thirty-two seconds. It was written by Sade Adu, Andrew Hale and Stuart Matthewman and produced by Sade. The black and white music video, directed by Albert Watson, features Sade performing on the rooftop of a New York City skyscraper. The song is noted for its minimal yet lush arrangement and Adu’s intimate vocal performance. It charted modestly, peaking at number 53 on the UK Singles Chart, and reaching number 16 on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100, number 23 on the US Dance Singles Sales chart and number 45 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, spending 17 weeks on US charts. The title later inspired the name of the American TV series Cherish the Day.
