Close Your Eyes is a popular American song written by Bernice Petkere. Published in 1933, it was first recorded that year by Freddy Martin & His Orchestra. It quickly became a 1930s jazz and pop standard, and has since been covered by many artists including Ruth Etting, Al Bowlly, Doris Day, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson and Stacey Kent, among others. It has appeared on albums such as Doris Day's Day By Night (1957) and the 1962 Duet, as well as Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers' Just Coolin' (1959). The tune also features in the film The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) and in the BBC series The Mrs Bradley Mysteries (1996).
