The performance features Eddie Harris on tenor sax and Les McCann on piano, with a driving groove based on straight eighths and a strong backbeat - an approach that helped the tune appeal even to casual listeners. The original recording was reportedly not fully rehearsed, as the band learned the tune on stage, yet Swiss Movement - including the hit single "Compared to What" - became a major success.
