Come On in My Kitchen is a blues song by Robert Johnson, recorded on November 23, 1936 at the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas and released as a Vocalion single in July 1937. The track, produced by Don Law, runs about 2 minutes and 35 seconds and is often described as a hypnotic lament, one of Johnson’s early unquestionable masterpieces. It features a slow, highly emotional performance with Johnson's guitar imitating the sound of wind and uses an eight-bar blues structure with a unifying refrain. The lyrics tell of love lost and isolation, with the singer addressing his woman who has been taken by another man. Two takes were recorded, and scholarly discussion surrounds which take was released; the piece also drew on earlier blues styles and influences. It later appeared on Johnson’s King of the Delta Blues Singers compilation in 1961.
