Comrade Conrad is a jazz piano tune written by Bill Evans. It first appeared on the 1971 album The Bill Evans Album, performed by Evans with his trio. The piece is an instrumental work in Evans’s lyrical jazz style and later appears on the 1979 album We Will Meet Again in a longer reading of about 10 minutes. A Bill Evans Legacy Organization post notes that Evans originally wrote the tune for Crest toothpaste, but it was never fully developed at the time, and he later dedicated it to his friend Conrad Mendenhall, who was killed in a car accident. The track has since been covered by many artists and remains a notable part of Evans’s catalog.
