Daahoud is a jazz tune composed by Clifford Brown in 1954 and performed with the Max Roach Quintet. The piece was recorded during sessions that produced the albums Brown and Roach Incorporated and Clifford Brown & Max Roach. In 1973 Mainstream Records released an album titled Daahoud, which collects alternate takes from those 1954 sessions.
The original lineup on the recordings includes Clifford Brown on trumpet, Max Roach on drums, Harold Land on tenor sax, George Morrow on bass, and Richie Powell on piano. Daahoud is regarded as a jazz standard and a highlight of Brown’s early work. The 1973 Daahoud album received strong reception, including a 4 1/2 star rating from AllMusic.
