Dream Brother is a Jeff Buckley song from his 1994 album Grace. It was released on August 23, 1994, recorded at Bearsville Studios in Bearsville, New York, and appears as the closing track on the original Grace release (later editions place it just before the end). Written by Buckley with Mick Grøndahl and Matt Johnson, it blends alternative rock, post-rock and psychedelic rock and runs about 5 minutes and 26 seconds. The lyrics tell of a warning to Buckley’s friend Chris Dowd not to walk out on his pregnant girlfriend in the way Buckley’s father Tim Buckley did, with the chorus appealing to avoid repeating a destructive path and the abandonment of one’s name. Buckley described it as a song for a friend in trouble, and he has said he himself once overdosed the same night he spoke to his friend about the song. The track has inspired covers and remixes, including a cover by TesseracT and a 2024 remix by Zedd.
