El reloj is a bolero song written by Mexican composer Roberto Cantoral, who at the time was a member of Los Tres Caballeros. Cantoral composed it in 1956 in Washington, D.C. near the Potomac River, inspired by a brief romance and the image of a lounge clock, turning a small moment into a story of deep love. The Tres Caballeros premiered the tune in 1957, and it quickly became a Mexican hit; Los Panchos recorded it the following year in 1958. Since then it has been interpreted by many artists in several languages and remains a bolero classic, with references in film such as Selena. A popular later rendition is by Luis Miguel, who released a 1997 single from the Romances album; the track runs about 3 minutes and 2 seconds, is produced by Luis Miguel, and released on WEA Latina.
