Embola Bola (Cateretê) is a Brazilian MPB tune by Djavan, released in 1976 on the album A Voz, o Violão, a Música de Djavan (Som Livre). The song paints a slice of life, moving between nobres and caras-de-pau as the narrator endures the same ideal and awaits a false consolation, lying down and either smiling or cursing. The track runs about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Djavan wrote the song, which was produced by Guto Graça Mello and Aloísio de Oliveira. It remains a key piece from his early work and has appeared on various Djavan compilations, including Putumayo’s Brazilian Cafe collection.
