Faith is the debut solo studio album by English singer George Michael, released on 2 November 1987. The title track, Faith, was released as a single on 12 October 1987 and helped launch Michael’s solo career after Wham! The album blends pop with funk, R&B and soul influences, and the title track opens with a church organ fanfare and a rockabilly-inspired groove. Michael wrote and produced every track on the album except Look at Your Hands, and the songs explore introspective themes about personal relationships. Faith yielded four number one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 including Faith, Father Figure, One More Try and Monkey, and the album topped the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, staying 51 weeks in the Billboard 200 top 10. It is one of the best selling albums of all time, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide, and was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 1996; it also won Album of the Year at the 31st Grammy Awards. A remastered edition arrived in 2011 to widespread critical acclaim, and Michael supported the album with the Faith Tour in 1988.
