For All We Know is a 1934 popular song written by J. Fred Coots (music) and Sam M. Lewis (lyrics). Published by Leo Feist, Inc., it was introduced on radio by Morton Downey and became a hit in 1934 for Hal Kemp with Skinnay Ennis and for Isham Jones with Joe Martin. This tender ballad about the uncertainty of meeting again has become a jazz and pop standard, covered by many artists including Nat King Cole in 1949, Billie Holiday on Lady in Satin (1958), and Dinah Washington in 1962. Notable later versions include Donny Hathaway on the 1972 album Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway and Bill Evans on We Will Meet Again (1979). Not to be confused with the 1970 Oscar winning song For All We Know from Lovers and Other Strangers.
