Forever and Ever, Amen is a 1987 country song by American artist Randy Travis, written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz. It was released in March 1987 as the first single from the album Always & Forever, and runs 3 minutes 31 seconds. The track, produced by Kyle Lehning, topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart for three weeks and became Travis's third No. 1 single. It won the Grammy for Best Country & Western Song in 1988 and also earned Song of the Year honors from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. The song's title came from Schlitz’s son, who would say nightly prayers with the line forever and ever, amen. It has been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA and has been covered by artists including Josh Turner with Travis on Country State of Mind (2020) and Ronan Keating with Shania Twain on Twenty Twenty (2021). Rolling Stone ranked it #48 on its 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time list in 2024.
