Four is a 1954 jazz standard composed by Miles Davis. It was first recorded and arranged in 1954 by the Miles Davis Quartet and released on the Miles Davis Quartet album. The tune runs about 4 minutes and follows a 32-bar ABAC form. The original lineup features Miles Davis on trumpet, Horace Silver on piano, Percy Heath on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. Although officially credited to Davis, Eddie Vinson has claimed ownership of the composition. The track also appears on the Blue Haze release, and it has been covered by many artists including Stan Getz, Anita O’Day, Sonny Rollins, and Chet Baker.
