Four Brothers is a jazz standard in AABA form written by Jimmy Giuffre in 1947, based on the chord changes of Jeepers Creepers. It was written for Woody Herman's second band - the Four Brothers saxophone section of Zoot Sims, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Steward, and Stan Getz - who played in that order. Woody Herman recorded it on December 27, 1947 for Columbia Records with his second Herd, a group so closely associated with the tune that they were known as the Four Brothers Band. Giuffre later recorded it in 1955 on his Capitol debut album, and again in 1958 on Atlantic’s The Four Brothers Sound. The piece is a contrafact in the jazz and swing jazz repertoire.
