Fuchsia Swing Song is the 1965 debut studio album by American saxophonist Sam Rivers, released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded on December 11, 1964 at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and features Rivers’ own compositions including the title track Fuchsia Swing Song. The quartet includes Jaki Byard on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums, and the music is rooted in jazz. The album blends Coltrane and Ornette Coleman influences with a bluesy sensibility, signaling a confident voice in transition.
