Get Back is a rock and roll song by The Beatles featuring Billy Preston, written by Paul McCartney as part of the Lennon–McCartney partnership. It was released as a single on 11 April 1969, credited to The Beatles with Billy Preston, and later appeared on the Let It Be album in 1970. The track was recorded at Apple Studio in London in January 1969 with Preston on electric piano, and the lineup also included John Lennon on lead guitar, McCartney on bass and vocals, George Harrison on rhythm guitar, and Ringo Starr on drums. The single version runs about 3 minutes and includes a coda; the Let It Be album version opens with studio chatter and ends with rooftop dialogue from the January 30, 1969 rooftop performance. Get Back topped the charts around the world, reaching number one in the UK, the United States, and many other countries, and it was the first Beatles single released in true stereo in the US, as well as the only Beatles single to credit another artist. The song’s development is unusually well documented, from an impromptu riff to a polished master take, and its early lyrics included anti-immigrant lines that were later changed. It remains one of the band’s best known tracks and has appeared in several alternate versions, including the 2003 Let It Be Naked remix and the 2006 Love soundtrack version.
