Gloria's Step is a jazz piano-trio composition written by Scott LaFaro and performed by the Bill Evans Trio. It appears on the 1961 live album Sunday at the Village Vanguard, recorded on June 25, 1961 during the trio’s engagement at the Village Vanguard in New York. The tune, along with Jade Visions, is one of Lafaro's own compositions on the recording. The title comes from Lafaro's girlfriend Gloria, inspired by the sound of her footsteps as she came up the stairs to their apartment. The session is famed for the intimate interplay between Bill Evans, Scott Lafaro and Paul Motian, and Lafaro died ten days after the recording, making it the last time the trio played together. Genre: jazz.
