Heavy Artillery, also known as Artillerie Lourde, is a Gypsy Jazz guitar piece by Django Reinhardt. It was recorded in Rome in 1949 with his long time collaborator Stéphane Grappelli, but it was released in 1961 on the compilation album Djangology. The track showcases Reinhardt’s Romani-Belgian jazz fusion and is a hallmark of the Gypsy Swing style. A remastered version appeared in 2002. Reinhardt, born in 1910 in Liberchies, Belgium, died in 1953, and his work has influenced many later guitarists including Jerry Garcia, Tony Iommi, Willie Nelson and Jimmy Page.
