Homecoming is a jazz composition performed by Gateway, the trio of John Abercrombie on guitar, Dave Holland on bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums. It is the title track of Gateway's 1995 ECM album Homecoming, recorded in December 1994 at Power Station in New York and released the same year. The piece, composed by Dave Holland, runs about twelve minutes and showcases tight improvisational dialogue among the players, with DeJohnette delivering fiery drums, Abercrombie’s expressive guitar, and Holland’s buoyant bass. The album marked Gateway’s first release since 1978 and is celebrated for its cooperative, high-energy interaction. It sits squarely in the jazz genre and was produced by Manfred Eicher for ECM, featuring tracks like Waltz New, Modern Times, Calypso Falto, Short Cut, How’s Never, In Your Arms, 7th D, and Oneness.
