"I Can See Clearly Now" is a reggae-influenced pop song written and performed by American singer Johnny Nash. It was released in 1972 as the lead single from the album I Can See Clearly Now, and was recorded in London with the Jamaican group the Fabulous Five Inc., with Nash producing the track himself. The song blends reggae with soul and R&B and features a Moog synthesizer break played by Francis Monkman. It hit No 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks, also topped charts in Canada and South Africa, and reached high positions in the UK and other markets, earning gold status in the United States. Over the years it has been widely covered, including Jimmy Cliff’s 1993 version for the Cool Runnings soundtrack that reached No 18 on the US chart, and Lee Towers’ 1982 Dutch Top 40 top‑20 cover.
