I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is a 1987 song by the Irish rock band U2, released as the second single from their album The Joshua Tree. The track blends rock with gospel influences and its lyrics express spiritual yearning and doubt. It originated from a Larry Mullen Jr. demo with a distinctive tom-tom rhythm, and was developed with producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno at Danesmoate House in Dublin. Bono sings in a high register over a chiming Edge guitar, with choir-like backing vocals from the Edge, Eno, and Lanois, and the final version is in the key of D-flat major. The song became a US number-one hit and topped charts in several countries, earning two Grammy nominations in 1988, and has since been regarded as one of U2’s best-known and most performed songs. Its Las Vegas music video, filmed on Fremont Street, helped cement its iconic status, and it has been covered by The Chimes in 1990 and by Scarlett Johansson and Bono for the Sing 2 soundtrack in 2021.
