- If I Fell is a 1964 Beatles pop ballad written mainly by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. Lennon called it his first proper ballad, and Paul McCartney says they co-wrote it.
- It first appeared on the UK and US album A Hard Day's Night (1964) and in North America on the album Something New.
- The song features close harmony sung with a shared microphone, and its studio version has a mono and a stereo mix with Lennon’s opening vocal being single-tracked in mono and double-tracked in stereo.
- Released in the United States as the B-side to And I Love Her, it reached number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100; it climbed to number 1 in Norway and number 28 in Canada. In the United Kingdom it was issued as an A-side single with Tell Me Why but did not chart there and is not considered an official UK single.
- Musically it uses a Tin Pan Alley style AABA form, with a two-part harmony between Lennon and McCartney. The arrangement features a key change from D-sharp minor to D major and includes a D ninth chord.
- Personnel on the track includes John Lennon on double-tracked vocal and rhythm guitar, Paul McCartney on double-tracked vocal and bass, George Harrison on twelve-string lead guitar, Ringo Starr on drums, and it was produced by George Martin.
