I'm Getting Sentimental Over You is a 1932 big-band jazz standard, written by George Bassman (music) and Ned Washington (lyrics). It was first released by the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra in 1932 on Brunswick Records, with Jean Bowes on vocals. The tune gained fame when Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra recorded it in 1935 and it became his signature theme song, following an earlier 1934 Decca recording with Bob Crosby on vocals. The song is typically performed as a fox trot or swing number. It has been widely covered by artists such as The Ink Spots, Mel Tormé, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Page, and Frank Sinatra, and has appeared in films and TV including The Twilight Zone episode Static and Carnal Knowledge. Sinatra also sang it with the Dorsey Orchestra and it features on his I Remember Tommy album.
