Indifference, or Indifférence, is a classic French musette tune written by Joseph Colombo with Tony Murena also credited as a writer. It was first released in 1942 by Tony Murena et son ensemble swing and soon became a staple in the musette and gypsy-jazz repertoire. Over the decades it has been recorded by many artists, for example Freddy Balta (1949), Jacques Bolognesi - Léo Petit (1993), Richard Galliano (2006), and the Rosenberg Trio with Bireli Lagrene (2010). The tune is typically performed as a melancholic waltz, capturing a mood of quiet indifference that suits both dance floors and concert stages. A marimba solo arrangement titled Colombo-Indifference, arranged by Eric Sammut for Steve Weiss Music, adapts the piece for solo percussion performance.
