It Never Entered My Mind is a show tune written by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart, published in 1940. It originated in the Rodgers and Hart musical Higher and Higher, where it was introduced by Shirley Ross. The song has since become a jazz standard and has been recorded on many albums, including Frank Sinatra's In the Wee Small Hours (1955), Miles Davis on Miles Davis, Volume 3 (1954) and Workin' with the Miles Davis Quintet (1956), and Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers & Hart Songbook (1956). Other notable covers include Chet Baker's Chet (1959) and numerous other jazz greats.
