It's A Raggy Waltz is an original jazz composition by Dave Brubeck, recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet and released in 1961. It appears on the album Time Further Out (1961) as part of Brubeck's rhythmic explorations in the Time series. The tune features Dave Brubeck on piano with Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Eugene Wright on bass. It has a waltz-like feel with a raggy, syncopated groove and showcases Brubeck's distinctive polyrhythmic approach. A choral arrangement by Luigi Zaninelli was issued in 1962, and Brubeck published a solo piano version in 1966. The piece was released as a 7-inch single in the USA with Unsquare Dance on the B-side, and was recorded on October 13, 1961 in New York City. It did not appear on a LP or CD until Jasmine Records released it in 2020 as part of The Dave Brubeck Quartet - The Singles Collection - 1956-1962. A 1963 TV clip from Piano Legends captures Brubeck performing the tune, illustrating his rhythmic ingenuity. Genre: jazz.
