Somos Novios, known in English as It's Impossible, is a bolero written by Mexican composer Armando Manzanero and first recorded in 1968. It was the title track of Manzanero’s album Somos Novios (1968) and helped popularize the bolero worldwide, later featuring in the 1969 Mexican film of the same name. An English version with lyrics by Sid Wayne, titled It’s Impossible, was recorded by Perry Como and released in 1970 on the album It’s Impossible. Como’s rendition became a major hit, reaching No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1971 and No. 4 in the UK, and it earned a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Manzanero’s original recording was inducted into the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2006 Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera released Somos Novios (It’s Impossible) on the Amore album, performing the duet at the Sanremo Music Festival and further cementing the song’s enduring appeal.
