Just You, Just Me is a 1929 jazz standard from the MGM musical Marianne. It was composed by Jesse Greer with lyrics by Raymond Klages and was introduced in the film by Marion Davies and Lawrence Gray. The first recording was by Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike) on June 14, 1929, and the song quickly became a staple of the jazz repertoire, later recorded instrumentally by Red Norvo, Oscar Peterson, Lester Young and Duke Ellington, and vocally by Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland among others. The tune is notable for inspiring Thelonious Monk's 1948 contrafact Evidence. It has appeared in films including Marianne (1929), This Could Be the Night (1957), New York, New York (1977) and Everyone Says I Love You (1996). A version by Lester Young was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and the song has been issued on albums such as Nat King Cole's After Midnight and Dave Brubeck's 1994 album Just You, Just Me.
