Le Bal De La Marine is a French chanson-pop tune written by François Deguelt and Jean-Pierre Mottier. The original recording by Deguelt and Mottier was released as a 7-inch single in 1969 on Columbia EMI, with En Melo-Melancolique as the B-side, and it also appeared on the ESRF EP La Libération / En Melo-Melancolique / Le Bal De La Marine / Mais Qu'est-ce Que Vous Faites? as well as on the 1969 François Deguelt LP. The arrangement, orchestrated by Jacques Denjean, has a lush, danceable, waltz-like feel typical of late 1960s French chanson. The song evokes a festive naval ball and stands as a nostalgic example of the era’s pop-chanson style. A 2021 France Musique Ocora performance by FIXI et l Ultra Bal shows its continued life in live context.
