Liberia is a John Coltrane composition that appears on the 1964 Atlantic Records album Coltrane's Sound. It was recorded on October 26, 1960 at Atlantic Studios in New York during the sessions for My Favorite Things, and runs 6 minutes and 53 seconds. The album Coltrane's Sound was released in 1964, compiled from unissued Atlantic recordings after Coltrane had moved to Impulse! and produced by Nesuhi Ertegun. The personnel on Liberia are John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, McCoy Tyner on piano, Steve Davis on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums. The record is a jazz release and part of Coltrane's early 60s style; the 1999 Rhino reissue added two bonus tracks, including 26-2 and an alternate take of Body and Soul.
