Like a Star is a song by English singer Corinne Bailey Rae, released as the lead single from her self-titled debut album Corinne Bailey Rae (2006). It first appeared in the UK on 7 November 2005 as a limited edition of 3,000 copies, and Rae performed it on Later with Jools Holland, which boosted its profile. Written by Rae and produced by Steve Chrisanthou, the track blends soul, jazz and downtempo with Rae’s intimate vocals. The original video was directed by James Griffiths, and a new video accompanied the 2006 re-release directed by Sam Brown. The single reached number 34 on the UK Singles Chart and later climbed to number 32 after the re-release; it also charted in the US, peaking at 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. Like a Star was nominated for Song of the Year at the 50th Grammy Awards and has appeared in TV shows and films including Grey’s Anatomy, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Nancy Drew and 27 Dresses.
